I also think in some ways the victorian era marked the beginning of the whole children's book "industry" with lots of authors in english literature writing just for children.Praba Ramhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12124515962155387444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27389926.post-56302470477895327012010-10-28T22:26:37.228-07:002010-10-28T22:26:37.228-07:00Will read this for myself - I love mystery and I l...Will read this for myself - I love mystery and I like it even better when the female character is a strong oneartnavynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27389926.post-68667614928317174742010-10-28T06:58:36.301-07:002010-10-28T06:58:36.301-07:00@Chox: *Furtively taking notes*@Chox: *Furtively taking notes*utbtkidshttp://www.utbtkids.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27389926.post-4736060853262430632010-10-27T22:19:10.099-07:002010-10-27T22:19:10.099-07:00Something about the review has already transported...Something about the review has already transported me to Victorian England :) Enjoying the Crocus for myself sometimes. In fact, haven't encountered much of Philip Pullman in our reading.

We did start off with 'Scarecrow and his servant', Chox, but I think I need to read it to A in the beginning, as she didn't really take to it.

Will keep it in mind for myself in the meantime. And I agree that Victorian England did have a wonderful 'atmosphere' for the kind of literary works placed during the period.sandhyahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09654489216158421654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27389926.post-2792646375772342902010-10-27T18:27:44.146-07:002010-10-27T18:27:44.146-07:00WJ, this sounds good, thanks for the reco.
