Don't think she gets the base 8 stuff :) but it did lead her to think about the fact that there could be different no. of letters in different alphabet. She came up with the fact that the number of letters in the alphabet - how English has 26 vs. 48 in Hindi, and how we have to mix join some letters to get certain sounds - something that Hindi does not require etc etc.Choxboxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03741540918529448553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27389926.post-68428077202217288992010-07-21T12:36:19.214-07:002010-07-21T12:36:19.214-07:00Sounds intriguing, Chox - how does he do all that?...Sounds intriguing, Chox - how does he do all that? Does the book explain his number system - is it base eight, or does he work with 8-digits? Does the book just say he does it, or does it give plausible explanation and scenario of how he develops these fantastic things? I guess I'll have to read it for myself to find out :)Sheelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01892316117026334238noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27389926.post-49240125649970172172010-07-20T20:57:17.657-07:002010-07-20T20:57:17.657-07:00The cover of the book reminds me of the new movie ...The cover of the book reminds me of the new movie to be released by ghibli called 'Arrietty'! - although there is no relationship in the story between them.sathishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07061644730228380194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27389926.post-84861403163068603842010-07-20T16:54:50.868-07:002010-07-20T16:54:50.868-07:00There is something very familiar about the illustr...There is something very familiar about the illustrations, I am not able to put my finger on it.

On hold in our local lib.utbtkidshttp://www.utbtkids.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27389926.post-57459310138901083472010-07-20T11:42:37.307-07:002010-07-20T11:42:37.307-07:00Starry: Thats exactly why I want to get more copie...Starry: Thats exactly why I want to get more copies - to give it to folks like you :)

S: It is, totally.Choxboxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03741540918529448553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27389926.post-14231597005121145752010-07-20T00:23:02.880-07:002010-07-20T00:23:02.880-07:00Wonderful book, and wonderful review, as usual. &q...Wonderful book, and wonderful review, as usual.
